Pre-wedding · Dandenong
Dandenong gives you an unusual mix for a pre-wedding session: lakes and boardwalks along the creek corridor, woodland with kangaroos just to the north, and a modern civic plaza in the middle of town. We are a short drive away in Beaconsfield.
J Y Productions is the two of us, Jay and Yesha, photographing and filming couples since 2018. We know what it is like to feel awkward in front of a camera, and we know how to fix it. See our latest pre-wedding work at @j.y_productions.
If you love nature, the creek corridor and nearby national park give you water, bush and wildlife. If you want something bold and urban, the plaza gives clean lines and open space.
We help you choose based on your outfits, your timing and how you want the photos to feel.
What a Dandenong session looks like:
If you are getting married in Dandenong, see our Dandenong wedding photography guide.
Golden hour, the last hour or so before sunset, is our favourite time for pre-wedding sessions. The light is warm and soft, and everyone looks good in it. Early mornings are lovely too, with quieter parks.
Around Dandenong, the lake loop is short and gentle, easy in shoot outfits with heels carried in a bag.
Bring a traditional outfit and a casual one if you want two very different feels in your gallery.
We meet you at the first spot in Dandenong, have a quick chat about the plan and start with a few easy frames so you can warm up. After ten minutes or so most couples stop thinking about the camera. We give light direction, like where to stand and which way to face the light, then step back and let you talk, laugh and walk together. If you are changing outfits, we plan a sensible spot for it in advance.
Tell us where you are thinking of shooting and when. Reach us through the contact page, on +61 435 222 666 or at Hello@jyproductions.com.au. Studio hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm.
How booking works: enquire, talk it through with us, pay a 10% retainer, and the date is yours.
Timing: sneak peek within 2 days, full gallery within 14 days.
We suggest booking your pre-wedding session at the same time as your wedding coverage, then choosing a date a few months before the big day. Autumn colours and spring blossom are popular, so get in early if you have a season in mind.
If you want kangaroos in the background at Churchill National Park, plan a daytime session, as the park closes at 4pm.
Part of the Dandenong Creek corridor, Tirhatuan Park has two lakes, wetlands, boardwalks and bushland. The lake and wetland loop is a short, gentle walk.
Just north, near Rowville and Lysterfield South, Churchill National Park has woodland trails and a large population of eastern grey kangaroos. It is open from 10am to 4pm, so it suits daytime sessions rather than sunset. Dogs are not allowed, and there are currently no toilets at the park.
For urban backdrops, the plaza at Harmony Square by the Dandenong Civic Centre has modern architecture and open space. It can be busy, so early in the day is best.
These are public places couples often consider; we are not claiming past shoots at any of them.
No, it closes at 4pm. For sunset, Tirhatuan Park or another spot works better.
It can be busy, so we suggest early in the day.
Outfits you feel wonderful in. Bring a second look if you would like variety, and send us photos beforehand if you want advice on colours.
Not at all. Most couples feel that way at first. We guide you gently, and within a few minutes you forget we are there.
A sneak peek within 2 days and the full gallery within 14 days.
