Maternity · Pakenham
Our studio is in Beaconsfield, about 15 minutes from Pakenham. That puts a calm studio session, a home session or a lakeside walk all within easy reach, and none of them needs a long drive when you are heavily pregnant.
Behind the camera are Jay and Yesha, a married couple who founded J Y Productions in 2018. Our studio is in Beaconsfield, South-East Melbourne, and we work in English, Hindi and Gujarati. Our newest maternity and newborn work goes up on @j.y_productions_motherhood.
Pakenham has some of the easiest walking spots for maternity photos in the south-east. Flat lake paths, benches along the way, and boardwalks over wetlands mean you can enjoy a relaxed outdoor session without worrying about uneven ground.
We like to time outdoor sessions for the softer light late in the day. The water picks up the colour of the sky, and you are not squinting into harsh sun.
What a Pakenham session looks like:
We also photograph newborns at home in Pakenham or at our studio, and family sessions at local reserves. See our Pakenham newborn and family guide.
For water views with almost no walking, the lake is our first suggestion. For greenery and texture in a small area, the wetlands are lovely.
If you would rather keep things private, the studio is a short drive and home sessions are always available.
The easiest way to start is to tell us your due date and whether you are leaning towards the studio, your home or a spot around Pakenham. Reach us through the contact page, on +61 435 222 666 or at Hello@jyproductions.com.au. We are in the studio Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm, and we reply within 24 to 48 hours.
Booking: after a quick chat about your plans, a 10% retainer holds your date.
What you receive: 20 to 30 edited photos and a 30-second film from your session.
Delivery: a sneak peek within 2 days and the full gallery within 14 days.
Plan your maternity photos for 34 to 36 weeks. It is the stretch where the shape of your bump is at its best and you still have the energy for a relaxed session. Booking early in your pregnancy gives you the widest choice of dates, which matters if you are set on a summer evening session.
For newborn photos, the sweet spot is the first 5 to 14 days after birth. Let us know at around 20 to 30 weeks and we will hold a window around your due date rather than a single fixed day.
Summer evenings by the lake are popular, so if that is your plan, get in touch early in your pregnancy.
Lakeside Park, off Lakeside Boulevard, has a flat path around the lake that is suitable for prams and wheelchairs, with benches along the way. It is ideal if you want water views without much walking.
Deep Creek Reserve, at the end of Cameron Way, has sensory gardens and wetland boardwalks, offering texture and greenery in a compact area.
These are local public places families often consider; we are not claiming past shoots at either.
Yes. It is described as easy and flat, and suitable for prams and wheelchairs.
Lakeside Park is dog friendly. Let us know and we will plan a few frames with your furry family member.
Something that shows the shape of your bump. Fitted dresses, flowing gowns and soft knits all work, and a saree or lehenga photographs beautifully if you want a traditional look. Bring two outfits if you like, and send us photos beforehand if you are unsure.
Yes. Many families book both at once, and it means we can hold a newborn window around your due date early. See the newborn and family page for how newborn sessions work.
Yes. We photograph and film baby showers and gender reveals as well, so if a godh bharai or shower is on the calendar, ask us about covering it.
