Maternity sessions at our Beaconsfield studio

The studio is where we have the most control, and that is good news for you. The light is soft and steady whatever the weather is doing, the room is private, and there is a comfortable spot to sit between poses. We set up before you arrive, so your time is spent being photographed rather than waiting while we move lights around.

We start slowly. A few simple standing poses while you get used to the camera, then seated portraits, then the frames with your partner and any older children. If your feet are sore or the baby is kicking hard, we pause. There is no list we have to rush through.

What a studio session looks like in practice:

The studio is private, so there are no passers-by watching while you pose in a fitted gown.
Your session does not depend on the forecast. Rain, wind or a 38 degree day makes no difference indoors.
A sneak peek lands within 2 days, and the complete gallery follows within 14 days.
Your partner and any big brothers or sisters can join in. A few family frames are part of the plan, not an afterthought.
We guide every pose gently, so you never have to guess what to do with your hands or where to look.

Newborn photos in Beaconsfield

When to book

Maternity: 34 to 36 weeks is the window we plan for. The bump is clearly there and you are usually still comfortable walking and changing outfits. Get in touch in your second trimester so we can hold a date for you, especially if you have a particular spring or autumn in mind.

Newborn: if you would like newborn photos too, mention it at the same time. Newborn sessions work best in the first 5 to 14 days, and we like to hear from you at around 20 to 30 weeks so we can hold a window around your due date.

Living close to the studio helps here. If the weather turns on the day of an outdoor session, moving indoors or to another date is a short conversation rather than a big rearrangement.

Around Beaconsfield

Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick is about 10 minutes from the studio. It has lakes, a rose garden and lookouts, so one walk gives you several different backdrops. Opening hours change with daylight saving, so we check timing with you first.

Cardinia Reservoir Park in Emerald is a Parks Victoria park with wide water views and gates that open from dawn to dusk. It is known for its kangaroos, which can make for a lovely surprise in the background. Drones there need a permit, so we keep things at ground level.

We mention these as nearby public places that families often consider. We are not claiming past shoots at either.
