Pre-wedding · Berwick
Berwick is about 10 minutes from our studio in Beaconsfield, and it has one of the most photogenic parks in the south-east. Add quieter walking trails and wetlands, and you have plenty of options for a relaxed pre-wedding session close to home.
J Y Productions is the two of us, Jay and Yesha, photographing and filming couples since 2018. We know what it is like to feel awkward in front of a camera, and we know how to fix it. See our latest pre-wedding work at @j.y_productions.
Most conversations about Berwick end up at the botanic park, and for good reason: lakes, a dramatic rock face, a boardwalk and a lookout tower, all in one loop. For something more low-key, the local trails and wetlands give a walking-and-talking feel.
We keep the session relaxed and plan where to go in advance, so you are never wandering about looking for the next spot.

We usually suggest choosing one main location and doing it well, rather than racing between three. A single spot with a few different corners gives plenty of variety and keeps the session relaxed.
In Berwick, the quarry lake’s rock face gives drama, the boardwalk gives leading lines, and the trails give a softer, casual feel.
For outfits, think about contrast with the backdrop: rich colours against green, soft pastels against water, bold colour against street art.
The session starts slowly. A short walk, a few simple poses, a little teasing to break the ice. Once you relax, we move to the best light and the most interesting corners we have picked out around Berwick. We keep an eye on hair, dupattas and collars so you do not have to, and we always leave time at the end for one last golden frame.

Plan your session two to six months before the wedding. That leaves time to use the photos on invitations or at the reception, and to tweak anything about your wedding day plan after seeing how you like to be photographed.
Because Wilson Botanic Park’s hours change with daylight saving, we plan sunset sessions around the closing time.
Wilson Botanic Park was once a basalt quarry and is now a botanic park with two lakes. Basalt Lake has a sheer rock face on one side and a boardwalk on the other, and the Hoo Hoo Lookout Tower gives views over the surrounding suburbs. The park has set opening hours that change with daylight saving, so we check timing for your date.
Sweeney Reserve marks the Berwick end of the Hallam Valley Trail, with wetlands and open grass. It suits couples who want a casual, walking-and-talking feel.
These are public places couples often consider; we are not claiming past shoots at either.
Wilson Botanic Park allows dogs on a lead. Tell us in advance and we will plan for it.
It depends on the season and the park’s opening hours, which change with daylight saving. We plan around them.
Yes. Photo and film are both available for pre-wedding sessions.
Often, yes, depending on the location. Some parks do not allow dogs, so we check when we plan.
