Newborn & Family Photographer in Dandenong

In Dandenong, a new baby is often a whole-family event. Grandparents, aunties and cousins all want to meet the newest arrival, and many of them want to be in the photos too. We love that, and we plan sessions so everyone gets their moment without wearing out the baby.

We are Jay and Yesha, a husband-and-wife team, and we have run J Y Productions since 2018. We work from our studio in Beaconsfield, we speak English, Hindi and Gujarati, and you can see our latest baby and family sessions on @j.y_productions_motherhood.

Newborn sessions in Dandenong

We usually start with the baby on their own while they are sleepiest, then bring in parents, siblings and grandparents in short groups. Keeping groups quick means nobody gets tired and the baby can go back to a feed or a nap.

We speak English, Hindi and Gujarati, so grandparents can follow along and feel part of it. If there are family traditions you would like to include, such as a special outfit or a blessing, tell us beforehand.

What a Dandenong session usually includes:

  • Short, well-planned group photos with extended family.
  • Space for traditional outfits or heirlooms if they matter to you.
  • We hold a flexible window around your due date rather than a single fixed day.
  • Nothing is forced. Your baby sets the pace and we work around them.
  • Sessions run around 2 to 3 hours because feeds, nappy changes and settling are built into the plan, not squeezed around it.
  • You see a sneak peek within 2 days and the full gallery within 14 days.

Family photos in Dandenong

For outdoor family photos, Dandenong has large parks with lakes and shady trees, perfect for a session followed by a family picnic.

Why families choose our family sessions

  • A playful approach that brings out real laughter.
  • Short, simple group shots so nobody gets restless.
  • Room for pets if they are part of the family.
  • Gentle guidance for parents who feel awkward on camera.

Home session or the studio?

If the whole family is coming, a home session means nobody has to travel and grandparents can relax in familiar surroundings. If you want a quieter, simpler set of photos, the studio is calm and private.

Our suggestion: choose based on who is coming. Big groups often feel most at home, well, at home.

Book your session

Tell us your due date, or your baby’s birthday if they have already arrived, and whether you would like a studio or home session. Reach us through the contact page, on +61 435 222 666 or at Hello@jyproductions.com.au. We are in the studio Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm, and reply within 24 to 48 hours.

Booking and delivery

Securing your spot: we talk through the plan, then a 10% retainer holds it.

Included: 20 to 30 edited photos and a 30-second film, with parents and siblings in the frame.

When you see them: a sneak peek within 2 days, then the full gallery within 14 days.

When to book

Newborn: the first 5 to 14 days are ideal. Babies this young still curl naturally into those sleepy, tucked-up shapes and settle through most of the session. Get in touch at around 20 to 30 weeks of pregnancy, and we hold a window around your due date. Message us once your baby arrives and we confirm the exact day.

Cake smash: 11 to 12 months is the usual time. Milestones: 6 to 10 months suits sitting-up portraits.

With a big family involved, it helps to tell us early who is coming so we can plan the groupings and timing.

Around Dandenong

Tirhatuan Park in Dandenong North has two lakes, playgrounds, picnic facilities and boardwalks. It is a lovely place for a family session followed by a picnic.

Dandenong Park on Lonsdale Street has more than 17 hectares of open space and mature trees beside Dandenong Creek.

We suggest these as nearby places families often consider, not as past shoots.

Why families book us

  • English, Hindi and Gujarati. Useful when grandparents are part of the session and want to follow what is happening.
  • A film in every session. Every newborn booking includes a 30-second film as well as the photos.
  • No long wait. Sneak peek in 2 days, full gallery in 14.
  • A team of two. Jay and Yesha work together. One of us looks after the camera and the light while the other helps settle the baby or keeps a toddler laughing.
  • Easy access. The Beaconsfield studio is accessible for people with physical disabilities, handy when grandparents visit.

Frequently asked questions

Can three generations be photographed together?

Yes. We plan a few three-generation groups early in the session while everyone is fresh.

Can we include a family tradition?

Yes. Let us know beforehand and we will make time for it.

How long does a newborn session take?

Usually 2 to 3 hours, because feeds, nappy changes and settling are built into that time rather than treated as interruptions.

How many photos will we get?

20 to 30 edited photos plus a 30-second film. A sneak peek arrives within 2 days and the full gallery within 14 days.

Do we need a big house for a home session?

No. We need one spot with decent window light and a bit of floor or bed space.
